(1437-1508)
Portuguese biblical exegete and statesman. He was treasurer to Alfonso V of Portugal and served King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Castile. His writings include a commentary on the Bible, philosophical studies of an anti-rationalist nature, and theological treatises stressing the primacy of Judaism.
